ABOUT US

Broughton Amateur Dramatic Society (B.A.D.S) is a community based theatre group. We are based in Broughton, North Lincolnshire, very close to the market town of Brigg.

Established in 1949, we welcome members from the age of 16 onwards and it is not just actors we are looking for - you may have other talents that you would like to develop, like designing and building set, making and sourcing costumes, creating and operating lighting and sound plots for productions, sourcing and making props or simply coming along and helping out where needed. No experience necessary; all you need is enthusiasm and commitment - and a sense of humour!

We are fortunate to have our own rehearsal space - The Barn - in Broughton and we do realise how lucky we are to  have it - even when it is cold in winter and too hot in summer. There is a lot of useful storage, a kitchen, a 'facility' (!) and the rehearsal space itself almost mimics the size of the stage at the village hall, making it ideal when creating productions.

Currently, we perform 2 formal productions a year, 1 in spring/summer and 1 in autumn/winter at Broughton Village Hall. As you can see from our Past Productions page, we offer a varied programme but our aim is always to entertain, bringing live theatre to our community. We are always looking for exciting new ventures and we have recently taken up Murder Mystery group in-residence at Cleatham Hall, Gainsborough for their annual festive who-dunnit evening.

Broughton Amateur Dramatic Society is a registered Charity.

Our aim is to provide accessible, affordable and quality theatre to the residents of North Lincolnshire. B.A.D.S has kept our ticket prices at affordable rates that include interval refreshments. We have historically supported our local community with, for example, free tickets for pensioner groups and concessions for students. We also make regular donations to charities in the area.

So, this is us, in a nutshell. No pretensions, just lots of commitment and lots of ideas to take us into the next 75 years. Come and join us to find out how you can become part of our success story.
